Example of the restoration of  sternocleidomastoideus muscles after the transferred trauma (massage)

 

Patient S., 38 years old, a financier. Apropos periodic headache she was apply to the neurologist, who after inspection diagnosed osteochondrosis of the neck division of spine and were appointed 10 sessions of the massage of the region of neck and shoulder girdle. After the second session of massage the patient felt “sharp” pains being returned into the head. As spoke patient, “she shot” in the temporal region. Pains were strengthened during the motions of head, especially, when the patient attempted to touch by chin to the breast bone or to maximally discard head back. Headaches were accompanied by vertigoes, nausea and sometimes by urges to the vomiting. In parallel with the sessions of massage the complaints pointed out above were strengthened also after the fifth session of steel by intolerant, in connection with which, the patient stopped the treatment, appointed as neurologist and was apply beginning to another neurologist, then to the traumatologist. By traumatologist was diagnosed the traumatic damage of the legs of the muscles from both sides pointed out above, which are fastened to the mammiform branch, and was assigned the complex treatment, which includes the fixation of cervical vertebrae medical collar, physiotherapy and analgesics. During two weeks it was conducted the treatment without the effect pointed out above, even with a certain worsening in the state, because of what the patient was apply to us. With the inspection was objectively revealed the expressed atrophy of the muscles pointed out above, whose reason we see in immobilize of neck by medical collar during two weeks. The patient was conducted acupuncture in the course of 2,5 months (5 courses), without the drugs. Acupuncture was combined with the gymnastics of the neck (exercise they were selected by author of these lines). The motion of neck began from the minimum amplitude and with minimum duration. Gradually motion amplitude increased; also was added holding period. In parallel with the treatment, decreased pains and after the second course of acupuncture the patient noted the complete absence of the complaints pointed out above. At the end of treatment the patient was repeatedly looked by the traumatologist, who noted the complete restoration of the struck legs of the damaged muscles. Furthermore, the atrophy of these muscles was  completely past. Repeated spring-autumn courses were not conducted because of the absence of need.
